  With my husbands job I move around quite often. Every time I move, I have to get new doctors. I normally call and set up an appointment and there is no problem. This time, however, I had a very rude encounter with whomever answered the phone. I asked if I could make an appointment and all she said was “no ma’am.” No explaination or anything. I said “ok...”. She asked if i had a primary care doctor and I explained that i just moved to town. She told me that I would need a referral. That would have been fine and I could have gotten that, but she then asked me why I needed to see the doctor. I told her that I had just moved to town and needed a new doctor to prescribe me my medication. She, in a very, very rude tone, said, “ma’am, you’re going to have to be more specific than just saying you want to get your meds.” I explained that because she was so rude, I would go elsewhere. She said that wasn’t a problem. They obviously don’t need or want any more patients and aren’t interested in helping people. All she had to do was kindly tell me what I needed to do to get an appointment and i would have gladly done whatever needed to be done. I hope there are more polite and helpful healthcare providers in my new town of Lake City.
